Skilled Nursing Services

Visiting Nurse Home Care' mission is to help people remain at home - and stay safe, independent and well. Visiting Nurse Home Care offers skilled nursing supervised by a registered nurse and our Director of Clinical Services. Assistance ranges from in-home maintenance care to community wellness screenings.

In-home nursing allows patients to remain at home with fewer visits to their physician or the hospital. The frequency of nursing visits depends on the needs of the client or physician's orders.

Services offered include, but are not limited to:

  • Medication management (including filling medisets)
  • Wound care / dressing changes
  • Catheter care
  • Nurse delegation
  • Injection training
  • Insurance assessments

Community nursing services are available to promote wellness in our communities. Many of these services are offered in the local senior centers, by appointment in areas businesses, or in our offices:

  • Wellness screenings (cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure, hemocult)
  • TB testing
  • Immunizations (Hep A&B, tetanus, pneumonia, meningitis, flu)
Supplemental Caregiving

Visiting Nurse Home Care' mission is to help people remain at home - and stay safe, independent and well. However, home may no longer be a house or condo. It may be an apartment in a senior community, an assisted living facility or a private room in an adult family home.

We provide supplemental care when your needs are greater than what can be met by the staff in your living facility.

Our services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Extra help with personal care (bathing, medication reminders, etc.)
  • Extra housekeeping or transportation
  • Respite or companionship
  • Maintenance nursing care (catheter care, dressing changes, medication management)

Our home care coordinator will work with you or your family, as well as the management of your living community. We will meet your needs in a discreet, professional manner, but also with the compassion that your own family would provide.

Respite is defined as "an interval of rest or relief".

We provide Respite Care in the home. A trained person can give family caregivers the opportunity to:

  • Focus on their own needs
  • Run errands
  • Rest, nap, read
  • Make personal medical appointments
  • Visit with friends
  • Renew energy
  • Return with a fresh perspective

Respite Care....

peace of mind for family....comfort and safety for a loved one.

Hospice Care

Visiting Nurse Home Care partners with other agencies, individuals and families to assist with hospice care. Our goal is to provide the appropriate level of care to the dying client in a safe and compassionate manner.

We offer two levels of care: Home Care (non-medical) & Home Health. Since hospice clients frequently have significant changes in their abilities as they near death, change of the level of care may become necessary. Initially a Home Care aide may be able to assist with a number of personal care tasks and provide supportive services. However, they have not been trained to provide total care and cannot administer medication.

Our Home Heath aides, however, are trained to provide total bedside care for the dying client, having completed a state-approved nursing assistant training program and certification test. They can administer medications under the direction and supervision of a RN in the home setting. Our RN's assess the needs of the dying patient and develop a plan of care in close cooperation with the hospice team.

Hospice clients may initially be best served by a Home Care aide, however, recommendation will be made to the client and family if a transition to Home Health services becomes necessary.

Staying at Home...

This was the wish of Marcella as she struggles with the challenges of multiple sclerosis.

Living at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, Marcella has a beautiful view from her home in Concrete. She lives in a small, quiet community and enjoys the friendship of her neighbors. Moving out of her home to receive care was not an option she wanted to consider. But she couldn't be alone. Work takes her husband away for days at a time and her son was not old enough to take on the responsibilities of caregiving. Marcella shares, "Before I started services with VNPS, I tried to make myself some lunch one afternoon. Just a few eggs were all I needed. It ended up a disaster with the eggs all over the floor. My hand was too shaky to even hold a spatula."

VNPS has been able to help Marcella stay at home. Two caregivers visit her on a regular basis to help with housekeeping, cooking meals and transportation to her medical appointments. "Visiting Nurse has been attentive to my needs and is prompt in assessing situations and resolving any problems".

We asked Marcella if she has any suggestions for others who may be looking for home care. "The attitude of the caregivers is important, as well as education. It is comforting to know that the caregivers at Visiting Nurse Home Care receive training on a regular basis."

Hopefully Marcella's disease will go into remission someday. She commented at the end of our visit, "I've been a caregiver for another agency and I'm impressed with VNPS. If I'm ever able to return to work, I'd like to work for you guys."

That's the best compliment an organization could hope for.
